Magpies (3-5 years) Fall Session /12 Weekly Classes
Our Magpies program is Wildhood’s offering for our eldest children. Designed for children ages 3 to 5, this class builds upon the foundation of earlier programs, offering a more independent experience while still held within a warm, relational environment. At this age, our children feel more confident in moving their bodies, rich in imagination, and ready to explore the world with growing enthusiasm and curiosity. Here we give them an expansive environment and inspiring structure to engage in.
Our fall session is a 12 week cohort, meeting once weekly for 2 hours beginning in mid-September. Space is limited to keep an intimate container with a maximum of 16 students. Drop in spaces will be available as capacity allows.
Our days follow a gentle, predictable flow, rooted in seasonal rhythms and the natural world.
Gatherings may include:
– Song and movement in circle
– Storytelling inspired by the seasons, imagination, core values and the natural world
– Open-ended art and creative expression
– Nature exploration and longer outdoor free play
– Cooperative games and imaginative play
– Opportunities for practical, hands-on activities
– Spacious time for social connection
At this stage, children are expanding into imaginative worlds, forming deeper friendships, and beginning to navigate group dynamics. The Magpies Program offers space for this unfolding, where children can take initiative, express themselves freely, and build confidence within a consistent and nurturing rhythm. While this program is designed for greater independence, connection remains at the heart of the experience. Children are supported in developing a sense of belonging—to the group, to the land, and to themselves.
Caregivers remain an active and essential part of their child’s experience, while also being supported in creating a wide breadth for independence within a safe and nurturing environment. In the spirit of our family-first approach, younger siblings are always welcome to attend with caregivers. We honor the natural rhythm of family life and hold space for the children within it.
Families in our Magpies session are welcomed into the wider Wildhood community, with invitations to seasonal celebrations and shared gatherings throughout the year.
