Our Sparrows Program is designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers. This class builds upon the foundation of our Chickadees program, offering a rhythm that supports both growing autonomy and continued connection for young children stepping into early independence. For those beginning to reach, explore, and engage more fully with the world around them.
Our fall session is a 12 week cohort, meeting once weekly for 1.5 hours beginning mid-September. Space is limited to keep an intimate container with a maximum of 16 students. Drop in spaces will be available as capacity allows.
Our time together follows a simple, consistent flow, rooted in seasonal rhythms and connection to the natural world.
Gatherings typically include:
– Circle time with song + movement
– Storytelling
– Open-ended art experiences often incorporating natural materials
– Nature walks and outdoor exploration
– Spacious time for free play and connection
At this stage, children are alive with curiosity, movement, and imagination. Our Sparrows class offers space for them to explore with increasing confidence, while still returning to the security of a familiar rhythm and the presence of a trusted caregiver.
Caregivers remain an active and essential part of their child’s experience, while also being gently supported in allowing their children moments of independence within a safe and nurturing environment. In the spirit of our family-first approach, younger siblings are always welcome to attend with caregivers. We honor the natural rhythm of family life and hold space for the children within it.
Families in our Sparrows Class are welcomed into the broader Wildhood School community, which gathers for seasonal celebrations and shared outings throughout the year.
